The Heart Behind the Art
Meet Cheyenne Grigsby
My journey began in 2020, focusing on graphite realism memorial portraits for families who had lost everything. When you are tasked with capturing a life that is no longer living, "good enough" is an insult. There is a heavy, silent responsibility in holding someone’s grief in your hands; accuracy isn't a choice, it is the highest form of respect I can pay to the family and the loved one they lost.I never set out with the goal of making someone cry, but in this line of work, if my art evokes an emotion that deep, I know I’ve done my job. Coming to MVCTC gave me a new perspective, but it didn't change my foundation. I didn’t trade my pencils for a processor; I simply expanded my toolkit. That same discipline has earned me a place on multiple Honor Rolls and led me to become a SkillsUSA Regional Champion. I competed at the State level in May 2026, bringing home the bronze medal. Whether for traditional or digital work, I am the one you turn to for work that is disciplined, precise, and undeniably human.
